Gordon Street Pre-School offers a caring, nurturing environment and creative, stimulating educational opportunities for pre-school children.

Our teachers and assistants are experienced, highly qualified and dedicated to the well-being of the children in their care. Interactions between the staff and children are based on staff knowledge of age-appropriate behaviour in children, balanced by awareness of individual differences.

Staff at Gordon Street Pre-School:

• Are responsible for the supervision of all children in their care at all times and plan for increasing independence as children acquire skills.
• Respond quickly and directly to children's needs, desires and messages.
• Adapt their responses to children's differing styles and abilities.
• Provide many varied opportunities for children to communicate with adults and other children.
• Help children complete tasks successfully by providing support, attention and encouragement.
• Are alert to signs of stress in children's behaviour and find ways to reduce or eliminate the cause, or help children cope with it.
• Encourage the development of self-esteem by respecting and comforting children whatever their behaviour.
• Help children develop appropriate levels of self-control.
